Supportive lodgings

The aim of this scheme is to provide a range of accommodation options for young people 16+ when they leave Local Authority Foster Care.
Our Supportive Lodging Service Providers will help them gain independent living skills, such as budgeting, cooking, household tasks, education and employment. Some young people need more support than others and the fee paid to providers reflects this.
Providers can come from a range of backgrounds with a variety of skills and experience, however a good understanding of issues affecting young people, patience, the ability to communicate at all levels, commitment and a good sense of humour are essential. All young people must have their own bedroom and live as part of the family.
All Supportive Lodging Scheme Providers will have:
- A designated support worker
- On going support / supervision
- Specific training to help meet the needs of young people
- Access to Wiltshire Council’s training opportunities
Before approval, all Supportive Lodging Service Providers will be fully assessed, with references taken up and an enhanced CRB clearance undertaken.
Finance
Fees paid to providers range from £130 - £180 per week (depending on the level of support required by the young person).
